Caledonia CRC's Covid-19 response

7:25pm 3/17/2020

First, if you didn’t catch yesterday’s online worship service, check it out HERE. You. Will. Be. Blessed!

A special thanks to Jordan and Connor Young, Dan Noteboom, Michelle Dieleman, Mark VanderWal, Hannah Pellerito, and Andy Herder for putting together that beyond excellent service in a very short period of time. It’s such a joy to serve next to such gifted, hardworking, God loving servants of Christ.

I really wish I didn’t have to say the following--but it needs to be said. The Executive Committee decided today that because of the COVID-19 Corona Virus, all worship services and events are cancelled until further notice. Officials are asking all of us to practice social distancing which makes this decision necessary. This afternoon, President Trump gave a press conference asking everyone to avoid meeting in groups of 10 or more. That makes church life as we know it very challenging.

You can be sure that the staff is meeting, brain storming, and seeking new ways for us to keep learning, to keep growing, to stay connected, and make the most of this season. The deacons are meeting tonight to discuss the most effective ways to respond to the growing needs within our church and community. This evening too, a “drive thru” distribution of food will be going out to Hand-to-Hand families. Ministry hasn’t stopped; it’s just changing.

Please continue to pray for an end to this virus.

Please pray for those infected.

Please pray for medical professionals serving on the frontlines of treatment.

Please pray for added wisdom, for our local, state, and national leaders.

Please pray for all the businesses, schools, and organizations that are being impacted.

Because God’s got this, we’ve got this!

Dear Congregation of Caledonia Christian Reformed Church,

The Executive Committee of Council met this evening to discuss what actions we should take as a congregation given the spread of the COVID-19 virus. After prayerful deliberation and consultation with a health care professional, we have decided to cancel our Sunday services for March 15 and all the events of the following week including, GEMS, Cadets, Coffee Break, and Bible Study Fellowship.

We made this decision not out of fear. Instead, out of concern for the needs of our broader community and in support of our local, state, and national leaders whom God has placed in authority.  We also trust these officials are seeking to safe guard the public health.  Click on this link for information from the CDC for Faith Based Organizations.

Moving forward decisions to cancel services and events will be made on week to week basis. We will do our best to keep you informed as soon as decisions are made.

In the upcoming days our custodian staff will thoroughly clean and disinfect our facility.

Plans are being put in place to provide an online worship service for this Sunday. More information will follow. Our ministry operating needs will continue. Please consider online giving at the following link:

We ask for your prayers for all those affected by COVID-19 and wisdom for our county’s and world leaders in how to respond appropriately to this outbreak.

In His Service,

The Executive Committee
